Entry Thread: Pink

 In honour of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the first POTW theme for October is fittingly, PINK.

A fellow SPN'er r9stedt is spearheading an awareness project of Pink photos for breast cancer awareness. Our goal is to bring all photos together by October 10th, and combine them into a video collage to help spread awareness and encourage support for those who have fought, are fighting or will fight this terrible disease. Your submission to the weekly POTW can still be from your archives, but our hope is that this theme will encourage you to take a new pink photo in honour of this campaign, and that perhaps you will send it in to be included with the video collage. The reference to breast cancer awareness does not need to be (but of course can be) overt. It is still however you choose to interpret it.

Aug 6 - 12 Call: Mood

NOTICE: Changes to how to enter are now in effect! Please read below carefully.

While we make the transition to separate voting and non-voting challenges, I thought what I would do is add the option to be voted on. So both those looking for competition, and those just wanting to play for fun can enter. So now, when you post your picture, list your SN and whether you want it to be a VOTING or NON VOTING entry. I will post all pictures a day early now, so photos will be accepted through Tuesday August 10. Photos will be posted on Wednesday August 11. At the same time I will add a poll option for all voting entries. Viewers will then have Wednesday and Thursday August 12 to cast their votes. Winner will be announced Friday August 13 along with next week's theme! The top 3 choices will get bragging rights and cool Voter's Choice buttons :)

So without further ado, the theme for August 6 - 12 is Mood. Be it lighting, subject or photographer's emotional turmoil while getting the shot :)

July 30 - Aug 5 Call: Silhouette / Shadows / Reflection

Let's think outside the box some more, and move into the darker areas of the frame: Silhouettes / Reflections / Shadows

I wanted something that was a bit more open to interpretation. The theme for July 23 - 29 is: WIDE OPEN. What does that say to you? Show us!

Time to tap into our taste buds and bring out your favourite photos with a food theme! Check out Pioneer Woman or Annie's Eats for great food photography inspirations. Of course, it could also be someone enjoying their favourite food (or not enjoying, as the case may be). Or, your interpretation of the food chain. However the theme moves you, let's start salivating!

July 9 - 15 Call: Black and White

Now that we are all coloured out from the good ol' red white and blue, let's go back to basics.

This week's theme is Black and White. (Sepia is perfectly acceptable. However, selective colouring is at your own risk).

Once again, thanks for the wonderful turnout last week.

This week's theme is Shutter Speed. Either slow it down or speed it way up. Shutter speed can be used to capture an image in so many ways: freeze motion, or blur it. Capture moving light, or the stillness and fullness of the moon. So go high or low for this challenge and show us what you got!

(NOTE: This does not have to be a new photo, simply your favourite photo that you have taken that matches the theme!)
(Second NOTE: professional watermarks are ok! As this is not a direct Bump site, watermarks are not a bannable offense around here)


Most of us use Flickr or Smugmug, but you can link from any file sharing site.


If you do not already have an online file storage site, you can use http://www.tinypic.com
-Upload the picture and choose a large size.
-Tinypic will then give you a generated code (a URL).
-Copy and paste that code into the comments section for the entry thread.
-Make sure to put your Bump screen name in the comment!
